Nagpur, March 7, 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis and Mr Noel Tata, Chairman of Tata Trusts, visited the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Nagpur, on Saturday.
Mr Noel Tata was all praise for the cancer care facility that has been developed under the leadership of CM Shri Devendra Fadnavis, who is the Chief Patron of NCI and its former President.
Mrs Amruta Devendra Fadnavis, social worker, Mr Siddharth Sharma, CEO of Tata Trusts, Dr Shailesh V. Shrikhande, Chief Executive of the Tata Cancer Care Foundation, were also present during the visit, which reaffirmed the shared commitment of NCI and Tata Trusts towards strengthening cancer care in Central India.
“What a wonderful effort. Possibly the best hospital of its kind in India. Congratulations,” said Mr Noel Tata while interacting with the Chief Minister and the NCI leadership.
Describing the institute as a world-class facility, Mr Noel Tata also expressed serious concern over the growing problem of tobacco consumption, which has emerged as one of the major causes of cancer in the region.
Mr Siddharth Sharma suggested that the time was ripe for Tata Trusts and NCI to collaborate on cancer research studies and clinical trials.
During the visit, Mr Shailesh Joglekar, General Secretary and CEO of NCI, and Dr Anand Pathak, Medical Director, made a detailed presentation on the establishment of NCI, and its emergence as a leading cancer care centre in the country. The Tata Trusts delegation was also briefed on several upcoming initiatives in healthcare and cancer research.
Earlier, Adv Sunil Manohar, President of NCI, Mr Shailesh Joglekar and Dr Anand Pathak welcomed the dignitaries and also conducted a facility tour of the establishment.
On the occasion, Mr Shashi Mandapaty, Director, Global Operations & Strategy, and Mr Anand Aurangabadkar, Treasurer, were also present.
